SFP 2008 was held successfully on 10th May 2008 at the Union Dining Hall.
Breaking tradition, the 26th Exco decided to hold the party indoors, and focus the entire party on appreciation for the graduating seniors, and to create a fun and memorable day for everyone present.
The first thing that greeted seniors on their arrival was a photo frame with a decorated handphone sock within. Most people did not grasp the meaning of this gift, but the Exco hopes you like your "Sing Socks" anyway. =)
Right after that, the seniors got a twist on the old Junior Treat Senior, or JTS, idea. The juniors, freshers and those not graduating, had prepared sumptuous food for them. From pasta to fried noodles, fried rice and baked potatoes, chips and onion rings, herbal chicken soup to lasagne, and an even more enticing dessert spread, it was a feast for the senses indeed.
The most famous dish of the day had to be Alvin's "Royal Imperial Umbrella Fragrant White Steamed Rice". On the surface, an innocuous pot of steamed white rice, but in every grain, every drop of water in the rice, even in the fragrant steam, one could feel the appreciation and gratitude for the guidance of our seniors. It also went extremely well with Vipul's Thai Green Curry.
An appreciation video was played, which drew huge laughs from the audience, seniors and juniors alike. The images and scenes brought back fond memories of their time in Imperial, of Sojourn, Retrospect, CNY dinners, and more.
As a final act of craziness, an eating competition was held. Competitors had to finish of jelly and watermelons without using their hands, which brought lots of grime on their faces, and smiles on the audience's.
During the watermelon eating competition, the competitors began to play dirty, and started by choosing their watermelons which looked the smallest, and had the least seeds. Next, while they were busy chewing, other competitors seized the chance to snatch their watermelons and hide them, in an attempt to slow them down. In the face of all this, Cumarran emerged the winner of the watermelon eating competition.
SFP2008 has indeed achieved its objectives of letting the seniors "go out with a bang". The seniors mostly felt appreciated, and everyone had a whole lot of fun.
